Today, Supio announced two key hires to drive product development and engineering as demand grows for AI-powered legal document intelligence among personal injury and mass tort law firms.
Salim Hemdani joins as SVP of Engineering, bringing deep experience building AI products at scale. As founding CTO at Likewise, Hemdani led the team that created the first AI companion for entertainment recommendations across email, text, Slack, and WhatsApp. Likewise, backed by Bill Gates as both investor and active advisor, was recognized by the Wall Street Journal for pioneering personalized AI experiences. Before Likewise, Hemdani served as CTO at Avalara, where he led large product and technology teams in the SaaS space.
Taylor Wagner joins as VP of Product and Design to lead product and design and will establish Supio's new San Francisco office. Wagner has been working in AI since 2018 and brings a first-principles approach rooted in deep customer understanding. With B2B SaaS experience spanning seed-stage startups to scale companies, Wagner focuses on marrying strategic thinking with customer-centered product development.
"Salim and Taylor both understand what it takes to build AI products that actually work in the real world," said Jerry Zhou, CEO and co-founder of Supio. "Salim built an AI system that millions of people used daily at Likewise. Taylor has been solving complex product challenges in AI for years. They're both builders who care about getting the details right."
The hires come as Supio sees massive adoption and growth among personal injury law firms seeking to transform how they practice into an AI-native practice. The platform uses AI to read case documents, parse medical records, draft demand letters, and support litigation while maintaining source-linked accuracy that lawyers can trust in court.
“Supio is tackling one of the most demanding and meaningful frontiers in AI,” said Hemdani, who will be based at the company’s Seattle headquarters. “We are building systems that must meet the precision standards of legal work. Every answer has to be verifiable, explainable, and trusted. It is an extraordinary technical challenge with real stakes and real impact on how legal systems operate."
Wagner, who will lead the new San Francisco office, emphasized Supio's mission-driven approach. "This is the most exciting AI company I've encountered because the work directly serves people who need legal representation. Every feature we build ultimately lands in the hands of injured plaintiffs seeking fair compensation."
Strengthens Leadership Team to Meet Growing Market Demand
The technology hires follow Supio's recent $60 million Series B funding round and the appointment of several key executives to support rapid growth. The expanded team will focus on advancing Supio's Document Intelligence™, purpose-built AI that understands the specific structure, language, and context of legal documents and the workflows of attorneys that use it.
"Our growth confirms what we've believed all along—that specialized AI built for personal injury and mass tort law can transform how these practices operate," Zhou said. "By expanding our executive team, we're positioning Supio to meet the tremendous market demand for our AI-first approach to legal document workflows, and to deliver concrete results: faster case resolution, stronger settlements, and ultimately better outcomes for the individuals seeking justice."
Supio serves law firms across personal injury, medical malpractice, and mass tort practice areas, with customers reporting significant time savings and improved case outcomes through AI-powered document analysis and drafting capabilities.
